Production Sound

The Sommeliers

October 2024

After a lot of preparation, logistics planning, and gear bookings, my friend and colleague Harry Rozier and I went on location in Fulham last October. The job was to record the location sound for the short film The Sommeliers. It was a challenge we loved. We were newbies on the block learning the dynamics and language of the world of film. We worked hard, turned our focused listening ears to the maximum, and successfully recorded two intensely rewarding days’ worth of audio. It was an absolute privilege to work alongside some of the best talent emerging in the industry to bring Milo’s (the amazing writer and director) vision to life. Above are some of my favourite photos from the shoot as well as practically every photo I could find with me in it. There weren’t many, I spent most of the time at the mixer with my headphones on. Not enough time for photos – I did have a job to do after all!

The Intentions of F. Scott Fitzgerald

July 2024

In July 2024, I lead a collaborative project to complete the full audio post-production for a film*. While only a small team of people, we worked hard to complete a showcase piece aligned with industry standards and workflow trends. As a piece that is uncompromising on the fundamental production aspects of dialogue, foley, ambience, SFX, and mixing, I believe we succeeded in this goal. Watch a preview of the film above

Many thanks to Harry Rozier and Ella Davies for their incredible efforts contributing to the project.

Artist collaboration – Tess

Bad Dreams
Touch

Ongoing

My earliest and most frequent collaborator in music production is the incredibly talented singer-songwriter that is Tess! We’ve been working together for around two years on various projects, including the two songs of hers you can listen to previews of above^. Working with her helped me build the foundations for the approach I take in artist collaboration. For me, if the production process is fun, thoughtfully structured, and open-minded, only the best can happen. I look forward to our continued collaboration on future projects

“Louis is an incredible producer to work with, the working relationship we developed while working on a few of my songs was magical! We would always be on the same wavelength, with a complete understanding of my creative vision. He is very dedicated and has an amazing attention to detail, would recommend him to anyone.”

Composition, Synthesis

Nøkken Compositions

December

2023

Modular Synthesis is an area of creative music production that I find incredibly fascinating. Taking a basic wave of sound and manipulating only the level and frequency through a series of modulating parameters provides you endless opportunities. Sometimes I can’t decide what to create, but when I was  introduced to the Mythical Nokken and tasked with creating an intro and outro piece for a moc TV show, I I knew instantly what form the compositions would take. What you hear below (with the exception of a few string instruments and me banging away on a floor tom) is entirely modular synthesis.
